Troy
is okay. Not nearly as good as Gladiator. The music could have been
a LOT better. I heard that the original score by Gabriel Yared was
really good, but they fired him and got James Horner instead. Well,
James Horner didn't do too good a job, and that left the movie feeling
left high and dry. Music is supportive of a movie, and can make
or break a movie. It's a shame that it nearly breaks this one. There
is also only a few likable characters. Hector, played by Eric Bana
is one, and his wife is the other. The rest are all womanizers and
idiots. And that's not to leave the women out, they are just as
bad as the men. The action was awesome, as were some of the fight
scenes, but overall, not a very entertaining film. This movie was
two and a half hours long and FELT two and a half hours long. Watching
The Return of the King at three hours and fifteen minutes, you never
felt the length, but with this movie, about halfway through, you
want them to build the Trojan Horse already. And then there is the
massacre of Troy which is incredibly brutal. But overall, not a
movie that I'll be seeing more than once in theatres, and who knows
if I'll rent it.
